Hello friends,
I am in the midst of a deadline that I am rushing to make, so this week’s post is more of photo reportage of my adventures in Bologna. It was turned out to be quite eventful! I picked up my book at the lovely BlueRabbit from Korea who published my picture book “Being an Elephant is Epic!”, went to the Dutch Party in a lovely palazzo with my beautiful friends (we had such a good time drinking Prosecco and gawking at the piles of food and cheese and the beautiful interior that we forgot to take pictures..), and to my surprise (and shock) I was invited to a panel on Monday to discuss the illustrations I made for Le Siciliane, a book about Sicilian women by Settentrionale Sicula.
I met the most amazing group of women, made new friends, drank aperol spritzes in the sun and found the best vegan gelato in town. Sigh. Oh and the books! So many books.
First stop of the trip: Liberia per Ragazzi on Piazza Maggiore.
Day one at the fair, my very first panel ever, discussing Le Siciliane with Mauro Mondello and Rita Lorena Paone. My friend Bia Melo later also joined the conversation.
This illustration is about Anna Maria Ciccone, a scientist who, in WOII, stood up against the Nazi’s to protect her university and prevented the building from being destroyed.
Simonetta Agnello Hornsby is a writer who’s novels have been translated into many different languages. Her novel the ‘Almond Picker’ is one of her best know works.
Here are Rita, Mauro, Bia and me showing Le Siciliane, which was on sale at the International Bookshop at the fair.
Day two, picking up my book from the lovely team at BlueRabbit! It was a bit surreal to see my book in print and I got to do my very first book signing. Thank you BlueRabbit for being so kind and welcoming. Thank you Frances for taking these lovely pics. (See my tiny interview here on their insta, I was so nervous!)
Here’s a sneak peek inside:
It was a wild week spend with beautiful people and so much great illustration. Can’t wait for next year.
Thank you for being here and see you in the next one!
Lovely people:
It was so lovely to share this moments with you! Til the next one! ✨🤞😘
